The winter at Kohlern

Winter Highlights & more ... in the winter of Bolzano

Special winter

Kohlern is especially idyllic in winter. You will still find absolute peace and tranquillity up here. This special charm becomes clear when Bozen's turbulent city life is compared with the peace and remoteness of life on the mountain. There are only a few minutes between them on the world's first cable car that is available to Gasthof Kohlern's guests - they receive the Bolzano-Card- free of charge!

Christmas fairs

There are handmade wooden, glass and ceramic products, attractive decorations for Christmas trees, delicious biscuits and many other ideas for presents on offer at Bozen's traditional Christmas fair. It is held in the carefully decorated stalls on Walterplatz and in the inner courtyard of the Palais Campofranco.

Christmas / New Year's Eve

"Now that the garden has been buried under the snow, the gardener suddenly remembers that he forgot something: look at the garden". Karel Capek (1890-1928) could never have written these words at the Kohlern, because nothing would have distracted him from the extraordinary winter idyll. Find yourself outside any form of esotericism - even in the feverish Christmas season.

Winter activities

As the gateway to the Dolomites, the provincial capital is an ideal starting point for daily trips to the ski run on the Seiser Alm, to Obereggen or to the Sella Ronda in Grödner Valley. Snow shoes and toboggans are available.
