Sustainability and mindfulness as principles

Those who live close to nature have a special relationship with it. At the Gasthof Kohlern, surrounded by meadows and forests, sustainability and mindfulness are not just passing fads, but a matter of principle.

No TV in the rooms and Wi-Fi available only during the day: the night is for sleeping. We use only gentle cleaning products, while the electrical current only flows when needed. Water taps too are fitted with flow limiters to avoid excessive use. Recycling and waste separation? Of course. Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner, only homemade, regional and seasonal food is served at the table. The original house was built in 1870 from local and renewable building materials and subsequently carefully renovated, allowing its natural elegance to remain intact.

Perhaps precisely because it stands in the midst of the natural world?

The South Tyrol sustainability label

In South Tyrol, there is a symbol for destinations and accommodation providers that are actively committed to a sustainable future: the South Tyrol sustainability label.
Based on the criteria of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), it recognises those players in tourism who care about the well-being of our unique natural environment and its people, who have set themselves the task of preserving our traditions and who make their contribution to the sustainable living environment of South Tyrol with concrete measures.
